Job Title: Plant Manager

Department: Operations

Reports to: COO

Key Responsibilities:

People Management:

  • Ensure employee safety, wellbeing, and professional conduct.
  • Manage workforce planning, recruitment, and development in collaboration with HR.
  • Oversee performance management, goal setting, and employee development.
  • Advocate for and drive HR initiatives at the site level.

Operations Management:

  • Oversee production efficiency, ensuring on-time, on-budget, and quality delivery.
  • Implement continuous improvement to reduce costs of poor quality.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain ISO9001 and other relevant certifications.
  • Monitor and report on site-level operational KPIs.

Business Performance:

  • Align operational plans with sales strategy and company growth goals.
  • Work with finance to manage cash flow, forecasting, and expenditures.
  • Protect revenue and mitigate risks, coordinating actions across departments.
  • Drive margin improvements and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Manage stock levels to balance inventory and reduce obsolescence.
  • Maintain and update the site’s risk register.

Site Management:

  • Ensure site cleanliness and compliance with 7S standards.
  • Oversee mandatory site maintenance and in-house equipment schedules.
  • Work with ITC to maintain Cyber Essentials Plus certification.
  • Ensure site security and control access to sensitive information.

Customer Engagement:

  • Represent the company in key customer meetings.
  • Maintain regular contact with top customers, addressing quality issues and feedback.
  • Lead customer site visits and audits to build trust and ensure compliance.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years in manufacturing, with extensive experience in plant management and operations leadership.
  • Proven track record in optimizing production processes, improving efficiency, and reducing costs.
  • Experience managing teams and driving performance improvements.
  • Strong background in safety, compliance, and regulatory adherence.
  • Proficient in ERP systems, with experience in Epicor ERP.
  • Hands-on expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and automation implementation.

Skill Set:

  • Proven experience in managing operations to meet production targets and cost objectives.
  • Experience in setting and driving continuous improvement and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Ability to coordinate between procurement, manufacturing, quality, technical services, and service centres.
  • Experience managing budgets effectively to improve profitability.
  • Drive adherence to industry regulations and best practices.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Proven ability to represent the company with current and prospective customers.
  • Proven ability to manage and resolve customer complaints.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing, business administration, or a related field.
  • Membership in relevant industry associations is a plus.
