Grand Erie District School Board represents more than 28,000 students in 58 elementary schools and 14 secondary schools within the City of Brantford and the counties of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk, as well as students from Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Responsibilities:
Working in Accounts Payable, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a thorough understanding of and enforcing board purchasing policies and procedures as they relate to paying invoices. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring all invoices coming to the board have been properly received and authorized for payment before entering our accounting system. The successful applicant must have knowledge of HST application and ensure that all payments are entered accurately and in a timely manner. The successful applicant will identify and explore opportunities in accounts payable for further consolidated invoicing and suggestions for continuous improvements and other tasks as required. Maintaining positive relationships with vendors and Board staff are other requirements.
Qualifications:

•    Community College Diploma in Accounting, Business Administration or demonstrate equivalent experience in a similar role.
•    Minimum 2 years accounts payable experience is required, preference will be given to candidates with public sector and/or high-volume accounts payable processing.
•    Knowledge of general accounting principles and HST legislation required
•    Attention to detail with advanced computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with computerized accounting applications required
•    Must be able to work effectively with minimum supervision
•    Effective communication (oral and written), and organization skills required
•    Must demonstrate flexibility and initiative and ability to prioritize and deal with competing timelines
•    Must be a flexible team player who willingly shifts job assignments to achieve team goals
 
Job Specifications
Hours of Work Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week
Rate of Pay $29.13/hour
