Temporary Accounting Clerk
Facilities (Brantford, ON)
Grand Erie District School Board represents more than 28,000 students in 58 elementary schools and 14 secondary schools within the City of Brantford and the counties of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk, as well as students from Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Responsibilities:
Working in the Facilities Management Department, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a thorough understanding of and enforcing board purchasing policies and procedures as they relate to paying invoices. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring the receipt of invoices for all open purchase orders and inputting requisitions for the Facilities Operations and Maintenance Divisions. The successful candidate will ensure invoices are complete and coded to the correct GL’s before submitting for approval. Once approved, invoices will be circulated to Accounts Payable for payment. Further responsibilities include making use of technology and seeking other opportunities for process improvement as well as maintaining positive relationships with vendors and Board staff.
Qualifications:
All submissions are to include a complete cover letter, resume, qualifications, and the names of three (3) professional references at least one of which must be a current supervisor (one document if submitted electronically). All new employees are required to provide an original Police Record Check (which includes a “vulnerable sector search”) acceptable to the Board prior to the commencement of employment.

Qualifications:
- 1 year Community College Diploma or certificate in a Business related field
- Minimum 1 year experience in a Business related role is required
- Knowledge of general accounting principles and HST legislation required
- Attention to detail with advanced computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with computerized accounting applications required
- Must be able to work effectively with minimum supervision
- Effective communication (oral and written), and organization skills required
- Must demonstrate flexibility and initiative and ability to prioritize and deal with competing timelines
- Must be a flexible team player who willingly shifts job assignments to achieve team goals
