Position:                              Systems Analyst, Information Technology Branch
                                             (Up to 2 Permanent Vacancies
Start Date:                           January 2025
Status:                                   Permanent, Full Time

Salary:                                  $91,356 (Starting) to $110,473 (at 30 Months)
 

Hybrid Remote Options:

The LPS is currently operating under a Pilot Remote Work Procedure. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement following successful completion of training.


Position Summary:  

The Systems Analyst provides Tier 2 support for all London Police Service (LPS) Information Technology (IT) equipment and performs lifecycle management of LPS IT infrastructure equipment. They create technical documentation and maintain the security of LPS systems. The Systems Analyst also provides advice and guidance to Tier 1 technicians and other members of the LPS.

Responsibilities:

  •  Provide London Police Service (LPS) members with Tier 2 technical support for end user devices (e.g., computers, smartphones, desk phones, MDTs, printers, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot reported software or hardware issues by investigating, analyzing, and diagnosing the issue and implementing and validating the solution.
  • Deploy, maintain, repair, upgrade, and decommission LPS IT infrastructure hardware (e.g., servers, switches, firewall) and software.
  • Identify and research quality improvements to IT products and services and analyze the impact changes may have on the critical production systems at LPS.
  • Provide functional advice and guidance as a subject-matter expert within team and across organization.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation of IT services.
  • Provide insight, recommendations, and knowledge toward systems, hardware and applications deployed.
  • Ensure IT services are efficient, secure, reliable, and high performing.
  • Maintain security of LPS applications, network, and infrastructure devices.
  • Other duties as assigned within the core competencies.

Requirements:

  • 3-year post-secondary education in Information Technology or equivalent.
  • 3 years’ related experience in technical support.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and judgement required to make decisions from numerous/broader range of alternatives covered by standards and precedents of a general nature; for producing a wide range of products requiring a high degree of accuracy and close tolerances; and for maintaining highly technical equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills for regular contact with LPS members, contractors, and vendors to give, obtain, and/or exchange, and/or discuss technical information or decisions requiring discussion or explanation to ensure full understanding, with tact, self-control, and persuasiveness.
