Full-Time Bookkeeper in Guelph

IS2 Cambridge is seeking a full-time Bookkeeper for a client based in Guelph. We are looking for a dedicated team player who excels in communication with colleagues and clients alike. Attention to detail is critical for this position, as accuracy is paramount in all tasks.

Main Duties:

  • Prepare year-end files for compilation engagement for partner review.
  • Complete annual bookkeeping for clients prior to preparing year-end files.
  • Provide support to clients with bookkeeping, payroll, and HST queries.
  • Draft corporate and personal tax returns (subject to review by the Manager or Partner).

Occasional Duties:

  • Greet clients upon arrival at the office.
  • Answer phone calls.
  • Process credit card payments.
  • Order office supplies.

Tax Season Responsibilities:

Tax season is particularly busy during March and April, requiring all staff to assist in serving our clients effectively. During this period, we add an administrator for two months to handle phone calls, intake drop-offs, and pickups, but we still need additional support during peak times.

Specific tax season duties include:

  • Personal tax preparation, including organizing initial paperwork, data input, and entering medical expenses, donations, and caregiving information, as well as scanning source documents.
  • Scheduling appointments for clients calling in, especially when the administrator is busy or unavailable.
  • Printing tax returns when necessary (primarily the administrator’s responsibility).
  • Following up with clients upon request from senior staff members.

Important Traits, Skills, and Knowledge:

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficient bookkeeping skills and payroll knowledge.
  • Proficiency in Excel, QuickBooks, and Sage.
  • Working knowledge of personal tax.
  • Familiarity with Caseware and Taxprep T1/T2 software is a plus.
