Senior Payroll and Benefits Administrator

Prime Management Group Inc. is pleased to be partnering with L.H. Gray & Son Limited in the search effort for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Payroll and Benefits Administrator. This accomplished and results-oriented leader will manage payroll processing and benefits administration for a dynamic, rapidly growing company, playing a key role in advancing the organization’s strategic objectives while driving operational excellence.
The Senior Payroll and Benefits Administrator will successfully manage payroll for over 500 employees across five bi-weekly payrolls, ensuring accurate processing, compliance with employment laws, and efficient handling of salary adjustments, benefits enrollment, and financial reporting. With expertise in payroll compliance, including premiums, overtime, statutory pay, and tax remittances, this leader will adeptly manage ROEs, tax filings, and government submissions (WSIB, EHT, CRA) while preparing detailed financial reports to support business decisions.
A dedicated, relationship-driven specialist, this professional will reconcile payroll registers, general ledger entries, and employee expense remittances, ensuring precision in all transactions while maintaining detailed payroll records for audits and statutory compliance. With a focus on continuous improvement, they will also proactively identify opportunities to enhance payroll processes, streamline reporting, and implement best practices to optimize efficiency and accuracy across all payroll functions.
This independent and self-directed payroll expert will take a pivotal role in benefits administration, managing health plans, RRSPs, EAPs, and related payroll deductions while processing salary adjustments, bonuses, and compensation updates in compliance with employment standards. Collaborating closely with HR, they will address payroll-related inquiries, ensure the accuracy of employee records, and contribute to broader financial operations, including journal entries and accounts payable processes. With a sharp analytical mindset, this highly skilled professional will streamline payroll execution, enhance financial reporting, and uphold exceptional accuracy across all locations.
Qualifications
To be successful in this position, the Senior Payroll and Benefits Administrator should possess:
- 3–5 years of proven experience in a senior payroll role handling the payroll for multiple divisions or entities in a complex organization. PCP designation (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) is also required.
- Strong working knowledge of employment legislation, including payroll compliance regulations.
- Experience with ADP payroll systems (strongly preferred) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on streamlining processes and enhancing efficiency.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various teams and stakeholders.
- Initiative and proactive problem-solving skills to efficiently identify and resolve payroll and benefits issues.
A hybrid work model is available for this position. The salary range for this opportunity is $80,000 - $100,000, commensurate with experience.
