Weigh Scale Attendant (CUPE 87.24) (PPT)
Basic Function:
Provide front line customer service by performing all weighing operations, collection of money and associated documentation and duties at the waste management facilities
Position Description:
- Open, close and be responsible for the general security of the waste management facility
- Weigh all vehicular traffic entering and leaving the waste management facility in accordance with provincial and County policies and procedures
- Monitor, enforce and process the waste stream in accordance with County waste management policies and procedure as well as provincial acts and regulations
- Provide input, direction and service to the public at the County’s waste management facilities
- Collect cash and credit receipts from waste management facility customers and prepare required documentation including deposit information
- Collect and input waste stream data into the waste management data collection system
- Prepare the appropriate weigh period transaction file for modem transmission to the collection management reporting system
- Respond to inquiries from the public, provincial authorities, contractors, site users and staff
- Perform housekeeping duties inside and outside the weigh scale facilities, such as grass cutting, replacing furnace filters, and snow shovelling.
- Deliver weigh scale cash receipts to County’s bank and deposit in accordance with County policy
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Knowledge and Experience:
- Grade 12 diploma, or equivalent
- Six months to one year experience to be familiar with scope of position, or equivalent previous experience
Skills and Abilities:
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Computer expertise in corporate standard software (Microsoft Office) and department specific software to data search and entry and to create and modify word processed documents
- Must be aware of safe work practices as they relate to job responsibilities and work environment, and have the basic understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
Benefits
Status: Permanent Part Time
Wage Band: $22.87 - $28.57 per hour

Location: Simcoe and South Walsingham
Note: Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including Saturdays and be available for call’ins when required. Requirement to be able to work at both Simcoe and South Walsingham transfer station locations as scheduled.
