By-Law Parking Enforcement Student (4) (SS.25.02)
Position Description:
- Investigate, enforce and process parking by-law infractions
- Conduct daily patrol of assigned areas by vehicle and on foot
- Gather evidence and appear in court as a witness where required
- Maintain a daily journal (notebook) of daily activities
- Prepare routine daily reports and perform some administrative functions including ticket entry into a database and photocopying.
- Assist Municipal Law Enforcement Officers with other Bylaw duties as required
Requirements
Qualifications:
- University or college student enrolled in Police Foundation program, Law and Security program, similar law enforcement or legal field.
- Valid Class G Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle for commuting to and from your reporting work location each day.
- Computer skills including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and email, including document attachment.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Experience in general operation of office equipment, i.e. photocopier
- Excellent organization, time management, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and problem solving skills.
Note:
Must be willing to work all summer weekends and statutory holidays. Two days off per week to be taken on weekdays only and will be scheduled in advance.
Employment is conditional upon attendance at all training sessions, submission of required documentation/certification, adherence to the minimum age requirements and ability to meet the employment term.
At the time of application, must be enrolled in a post-secondary education institution or institution of higher learning.
Applicants must submit a criminal record check (dated within the last 3 months) from their local police service for approval prior to commencing employment.

Department: Clerks and By-Law Department
Rate: $18.92 per hour
Location: Norfolk County (Simcoe, Waterford, Delhi, Port Dover, Turkey Point, Long Point)
Hours: 35 hours, 5 days per week including weekends

Posting Period: December 2, 2024 – January 31, 2025
Duration:
The duration of this contract will be approximately 4 months. Applicants are expected to fulfill the entire contract period commencing April 30, 2025 until August 29, 2025.
