Job Summary

Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Production Foreperson leads and oversees Extruder Operators and Material Handlers through assigning work tasks and work locations, distributing documentation, providing training, monitoring job performance and evaluations, and enforcing Company policies and procedures. Extruder Operators and Back Up Foreperson report to the Production Foreperson.

Responsibilities

• Prepare work orders and paperwork necessary to expedite the production schedule.

• Receive meats, liquid, and dry ingredients from outside providers and enter into QAD.

• Perform F.F.A. and temperature acceptance tests.

• Shunt and unload dry mix between the mixing plant and production department.

• Assist extruder operators with extrusion problems and maintenance department with equipment problems (breakdowns).

• Perform product quality checks, check, and monitor batching systems, safety audits.

• Work review schedule with Packaging Foreperson to maintain products in finished goods bin.

• Work with operators and forepersons to ensure efficient switchovers between shifts.

• Ensure cost effective and efficient use of ingredients, batching systems, liquid systems, tools, labour.

• Move rework trailers, refuel trucks, clean extrusion systems and backup operators in some cases.

• Complete shift reports by accounting for downtime, run time and issues on shift.

• Other duties as assigned by Manufacturing Manager.

Safety Responsibility

• Work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and regulations.

• Use or wear any equipment, protective devices or clothing required by the employer.

• Report to your manager or foreperson any known missing or defective equipment or protective device that may be hazardous.

• Report any known workplace hazard or violation of the Act or regulations to your manager or foreperson.

• Follow all safe work practices.

• Participate in the safety process and complete all safety weekly and monthly documents

• Discourage unsafe behaviour of fellow employees.

• Provide directions to hourly staff to work safely, operate equipment safely and follow SOP to achieve production targets.

• Lifting 50 lbs. maximum

• Bending 5%

• Sitting 30%

• Carrying 5%

• Standing 60% Work Environment

• Temperature Low to High

• Noise – Medium

Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent.

• Supervisory Training/Certification considered an asset.

• 2 to 5 years’ experience in production environment with food extrusion experience a strong asset.

• Forklift Certificate.

• First Aid Certificate.

• Capable of driving Pre-Mix Truck (Size: 18 wheelers, 40ft dump trailers).

• Able to work in a dusty and hot environment.

• Strong leadership and supervisory skills.

• Strong Mechanical aptitude.

• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Intermediate computer skills with ERP experiences an asset.

• Understanding of lean manufacturing.

• Valid G Driver License

Shift Details:

  • Night Shift (Sunday – Thursday night 11:30pm-7:30am)
  • Location: Woolwich, Ontario

Job Types: Direct Permanent hire

Salary: $28.92 to $32 (inclusive of shift premium)
