Job Description

H.E. Rieckelman (Canada) Inc. (3620A Laird Road, Unit 5, Mississauga, ON L5L 6A8) seeks General Manager (Hydronics Department) (NOC 00014) to perform the following duties:

Strategic Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Reporting to the President, the General Manager (GM) will take full ownership of the Hydronics Department, operating it as a separate profit center within HE Rieckelman. The GM will be responsible for meeting financial targets, overseeing profit and loss (P&L), leading a team, implementing cost controls, and maximizing profitability. 
  • Drive the strategic direction and growth of the department while ensuring alignment with the overall corporate vision. 
  • Guide the company in achieving its objectives and adapting to market trends and changes. 
  • Develop and implement business strategies to achieve goals, working independently and in coordination with the board of directors to ensure corporate governance is maintained. 
  • Set clear short- and long-term objectives, establish policies and programs that support business goals, and ensure their effective implementation. 
  • Build and manage the organizational structure of the Hydronics Department, including the creation of new departments, such as an after-sales service division, to enhance customer satisfaction and service efficiency. 
  • Maintain and strengthen key client relationships, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. 
  • Identify and introduce new products to the Hydronics portfolio, continually enhancing the department's competitive edge in the market. Collaborating with leading international manufacturers across the HVAC industry, demonstrating a global perspective and the ability to manage and foster strategic partnerships on a senior level.
  • Expand operations into other regions of Ontario, coordinating divisional and regional activities to ensure consistency and smooth operations across all locations. 
  • Represent the company in high-level negotiations, partnerships, and industry engagements, or appoint representatives as necessary. Make key decisions that influence the department's success.
Operational Responsibilities:
  • Develop and enforce financial controls and budgetary guidelines, approving expenditures and investments that support the long-term financial health of the department. 
  • Identify potential business risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. 
  • Monitor business and employee performance, explore new markets, products, and services to drive growth. 
  • Design and approve marketing and promotional campaigns that boost sales and operational performance, enhancing the department’s market presence.
Team Leadership and Development:
  • Recruit, lead, mentor, and develop middle managers, directors, department heads, and other key personnel, ensuring the department is staffed with experienced, capable leadership. 
  • Manage resource allocation, including financial, human, and material assets, to optimize performance and achieve strategic goals. 
  • Develop and implement strategies for employee development, performance management, and succession planning. 
  • Collaborate with other departments within HE Rieckelman to create and offer integrated solutions, enhancing overall business offerings and market appeal.
Required Qualifications:
  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering. 
  • At least 15 years of experience in the HVAC industry.
  • Proven track record (5+ years) in middle or senior management roles, particularly in Sales, Marketing, and Business Development.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in water-side HVAC products.
  • Extensive experience managing profit and loss (P&L) for a department or business unit.
  • Strong leadership experience in building and managing teams, overseeing complex operations, and driving growth across multiple functions.
Permanent, Full time (40 hrs/wk) @ $128,005/yr. Potential bonus based on performance as per company’s policies. Benefits include dental insurance, disability insurance, and extended medical insurance.
